Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection of primary pathogens pneumonia (CAP) in children worldwide. Infantile Feire Kechuan Oral Solution (IFKOS) has been used clinically for the treatment of pneumonia MP in China for many years. This study was designed to investigate the therapeutic effects of IFKOS in MP pneumonia and explore the potential mechanism of action. Baby BALB / c mouse and Wistar rat model of MP infection was successfully established to confirm the therapeutic effects of IFKOS, followed by the test for related cytokine and investigation of IgM response involved.
The results showed that IFKOS exhibited an inhibitory effect on lung index (PI) and effectively reduce the level of the lesion in the lung. Lethal levels of rats significantly decreased while the survival time of mice dramatically increased IFKOS treatment compared to the control of infection, respectively. IFKOS treatment (40, 20, and 10 ml / kg) significantly decreased the levels of MP-IgM in a dose-dependent manner, whereas IFKOS showed no obvious inhibitory effect on the increase in the relative expression of MP-DNA.
In addition, an increase in IL-2 and TNF-α levels were significantly reduced and a decrease in IL-6 levels were significantly improved by treatment IFKOS. Our research shows that IFKOS have an inhibitory effect on MP infection in mice and rat models of MP infant pneumonia and a protective effect of MP lethal challenge in a murine model of a baby. anti-MP may effect associated with suppression of IgM response and reversal imbalance of Th1 cytokines / Th2 caused by infection with MP.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder associated with age characterized by accumulation of amyloid β-peptide (Aβ) plaques in the brain and cognitive decline leading to dementia. We tested if hydroxyurea (HU), ribonucleotide reductase inhibitors known to activate the adaptive cellular stress response and repair abnormalities associated with some genetic disorders, can protect mice against oxidative- hippocampal neurons, excitatory-, mitochondrial-, and Aβ-induced stress and if treatment HU could improve learning and memory in a model APP / PS1 mouse AD. HU treatment attenuated the loss of cell viability caused by hippocampal neurons treatment with hydrogen peroxide, glutamate, rotenone, and Aβ1-42. HU treatment attenuated mitochondrial capacity reduction of reserves, the maximum respiration, and cellular adenosine triphosphate content induced by hydrogen peroxide treatment.

In vivo, treatment of APP / PS1 mice with hydroxyurea (45 mg / kg / d) improves memory performance in hippocampus-dependent spatial Morris water maze task without reducing the level of Aβ.
